The IST\u00d3S Research Unit: History, Archaeology and Art, Cultural Management (SOCIEATH Center of Excellence) of European University Cyprus, in collaboration with the Center for Cypriot Studies of the School of Philosophy of the University of Belgrade, successfully organized the event \u201cDays of Cyprus, Belgrade 22-23 April\u201d. The event took place within the framework of the Memorandum of Cooperation signed by European University Cyprus with the University of Belgrade concerning the cooperation of the aforementioned Research Centers. The collaboration, which was promoted and established by the directors of the two research centers, Panos Christodoulou (European University Cyprus) and Vlada Stankovic, (University of Belgrade\/European University Cyprus), aims to develop research and educational programs and encourage mobility both at for academic staff as well as for students.<\/p>\n

On the first day of events (22\/4, Nocturnes of History and Art, Ilija M. Kolarac Foundation, Belgrade), the “Virgins of Cyprus” exhibition was inaugurated, curated by Dr. Christodoulos Hadjichristodoulou (Cultural Foundation of the Bank of Cyprus\/ Center for Cyprus Studies of the School of Philosophy of the University of Belgrade) and Stelios Stylianou in collaboration with the Panagia Faneromeni Church. On the same day, a musical event was held under the supervision of Dr. Annini Tsiouti (European University Cyprus), with the participation of Serbian, Cypriot and Serbo-Cypriot musicians. The event was attended by more than 600 guests, including the Ambassador of Cyprus to Serbia, Mr. Andreas Fotiou, and other foreign ambassadors. The Ambassador of Cyprus in Belgrade, Mr. Andreas Fotiou, hosted a lunch for Professor Stavros Karagiannis, Dean of the School of Education, Humanities and Social Sciences.<\/p>\n

On the second day (23\/4, Ilija M. Kolarac Foundation, Belgrade) a large number of students attended the proceedings of the 1st Roundtable Conference organized by the Center for Cypriot Studies of the School of Philosophy of the University of Belgrade and the IST\u00d3S Research Unit: History, Archaeology and Art, Cultural Management (SOCIEATH Center of Excellence), of European University Cyprus. Dr. Chrysovalantis Kyriakou (Theological School of the Church of Cyprus\/European University Cyprus) presented the topic “Cyprus: Identity\/ies in the Middle Ages and Beyond” and was followed by a speech by Jelena Erdeljan (University of Belgrade), Vlada Stankovic (University of Belgrade), and Panos Christodoulou (European University Cyprus).<\/p>\n

In addition, in a meeting held with the academic staff and Master’s and Doctoral students of the School of Philosophy of the University of Belgrade, Panos Christodoulou, Coordinator of the Master’s Program for Greek Studies (90 ECTS, 18 Months), Distance Learning: History, Archaeology and Art, Cultural Management (European University Cyprus), presented the Master’s degree in question and highlighted what makes it original and innovative. The fruitful discussion that followed underlined the importance of strengthening cooperation between the two institutions and developing research and academic programs centered on the humanities.<\/p>\n
