The Office of the Presidential Commissioner and European University Cyprus, via their official representatives, Presidential Commissioner Mr Photis Photiou and Rector Professor Kostas Gouliamos, respectively, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation. Inter alia, the Memorandum of Cooperation provides for the extension of cooperation with the World Federation of Overseas Cypriots (POMAK), the International Coordinating Committee \u201cJustice for Cyprus\u201d (PSEKA), and the World Organization for Young Overseas Cypriots (NEPOMAK), as well as the co-organisation and implementation of events on issues of common interests, and the implementation of public benefit actions in the context of the social contribution of both sides.<\/p>\n

The Presidential Commissioner Mr Photis Photiou stated that \u201cthe European University Cyprus is one of the key partners and supporters of the Office of the Presidential Commissioner in its effort to keep the diaspora, especially the youth, close to its roots and culture. This becomes possible through the various programs offered by European University Cyprus to our Diaspora Cypriots\u201d.<\/p>\n

The Rector of European University Cyprus, Professor Kostas Gouliamos, highlighted the importance of further reinforcing the already fruitful, in recent years, partnership with the Office of the Presidential Commissioner in support of Cypriot expatriates, and noted that “in the context of its social contribution, European University Cyprus considers it a duty to offer its know-how and infrastructure for the benefit of society\u201d.<\/p>\n

In the framework of the Memorandum, the two sides will work together on a common framework of action that will boost their cooperation on issues concerning the Diaspora Cypriots, and will decisively contribute to the coordination and joint action, as well as on other issues within the responsibilities of the Office of the Presidential Commissioner, such as offering, on an annual basis, \u00a0scholarships to children of enclaved parents.<\/p>\n

At the same time, in the framework of this cooperation, various actions will be implemented, such as the co-organization of workshops, seminars, and education and training programs in Cyprus or abroad, for Diaspora Cypriots.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
