It\u2019s always nice to be at a university that is going out many extra miles to create a safe, clean and comfortable environment for the students to feel at home! This is one of EUC\u2019s greatest achievements, a commitment, and the main priority, we want to consistently improve the environment our students live in. But it\u2019s not just on us. Sharing the same space with other students, from different countries and cultures creates the same kind of community that we want to have in our classroom. That\u2019s why we always advise our students to have this in mind: \u2018Respecting each other\u2019s space is respecting each other\u2019. So be the roommate you\u2019d like to have by having these in mind.<\/p>\n

Have a conversation with your roommates about sharing chores around the house. Cooperation is a key when you share your personal space with someone.
\nIf it\u2019s party time then make sure that\u2019s not intervening with somebody else\u2019s study time.
\nYou don\u2019t need a roommate agreement, don\u2019t go that far(Unless you admire Sheldon from Big Bang Theory). But shared spaces like the living room, the kitchen, and the bathroom should be kept clean, for everyone to enjoy. Make sure there\u2019s hot water left for the next person in, refill the toilet paper when it\u2019s out, takes out the trash and by all means, don\u2019t smoke inside.
\nBe nice to one another! Be supportive, help and understand each other. It\u2019s ok if your personalities don\u2019t match, as long as you treat each other with decency.
\nShow your culture by cooking something for everyone. Everything, not just love, starts from the stomach! Go a step forward and plan \u2018Family dinners\u2019! They are the closest to a family you have there, anyway!
\nSafety first! Make sure you know where\u2019s the first aid kit and set up safety rules that everyone should follow!<\/p>\n

There are apps out there that can help you all stay on the same page. \u2018Ourgroceries\u2019 can help you create a shared shopping list, \u2018chore buster\u2019 sends actual reminders of all the things you need to do and \u2018Splitwise\u2019 can make splitting the money, a non-issue!<\/p>\n

It will feel like \u2018living with strangers\u2019 at first. But follow these steps and it will feel like \u2018living with family\u2019!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
